Daryl 'THE DAZZLER' Fitton is star guest at Finals night

7 Time singles Champion receiving singles trophy from Darryl 'THE DAZZLER' Fitton

PAUL CLAIMS SEVENTH TITLE

In the history of the Shrewsbury and District darts league Paul Rowley won his seventh singles title in front of a packed crowd and BDO Superstar Darryl ‘THE DAZZLER’ Fitton, when the Shrewsbury and District darts  League held there finals night at the Harlescott Social club.

Darryl Fitton was the special guest at this year’s Shrewsbury and district darts league finals night, Darryl played 13 exhibitions games against various players from the darts league, where they saw 55 100+ scores including 6 x 180’s from the BDO star, but the highlight of the night was the Singles match between Ian Evans against Paul Rowley, Paul didn’t have it easy against Ian Evans (Ian’s first time in the Main singles Finals) as Ian went into a 2-0 lead, Paul took the next leg after some missed doubles by Ian, Paul then brought the deficit back to 2-2 in which Paul eventually took the final leg to win his seventh title 3-2.

In the mixed doubles Scott Dockerty and Jan Ashton (Belvidere) went 1-0 up against Dan Jones and Rachael Williams (A/Duncan) only to be pegged back to 1-1 but that couldn’t stop Scott and Jan winning the next 2 legs to win the match 3-1.

The 3-a-Side seen the Belvidere versus the Masonic, in which the Masonic team went into a 2-0 lead but the Belvidere had other ideas, with the Masonic struggling in the 3 leg and missed doubles in the 4th to win the Belvidere took advantage to comeback to level the match but this didn’t stop the Masonic clinching the title 3-2 which included a 180 from Matt Elsey in the 5th and final leg.

The doubles match between Matt Elsey and Willie Arthur (Masonic) and Vaughan Owens and Paul Ashworth (Rock)  saw Paul Ashworth check out on 116 (60, 20, D18) to win the match 3-1 with the Masonic levelling the match 1-1 with a 97 check out by Willie Arthur (57, D20) but couldn’t stop the Rock pair from winning the title.

Young player of the Year was awarded to Ash Hilditch from the Wheatsheaf which he has been in brilliant form all season.
