Thursday 16th April was the Main Challenge Cup Final at the Harlescott Social Club between the HeathGates and the Beacon ‘B’ which seen 18 100+ scores.
M.Gray took the Beacon into a 1-0 lead against Kev Turner, then Duncan Morris beat Lee Powell 2-1 to take the Beacon into a 2-0 lead.
Jon Mansell was up next against Ali Watkin, Jon Took the 1st leg including a 160 start and then continued his form with a 2nd leg win finishing on Double 12 in 1 dart.
Sean Reade then pulled 1 back for the gates against Andy Williams in which Andy went 1-0 up but Sean had other plans when he made the score 1-1 and in the 3rd leg Sean was scoring well with 52,100 and 117 (which included missing 32 for a 149 finish) then Andy failed to hit his double only for Sean to take double 16 in 1 dart to take the game 3-1.
James Carter took the Beacon into a 4-1 lead which included a quality leg of 160, 97, 24, 20 (double 10 in 2 darts).
Scott Towers had brought the gates back to 4-2 against Martin Morris which included a Bull finish in the 1st leg (86- 18,18 bull), then it was game on.
Adam Donnelly brought the deficit back to 4-3 with a win over Lawrence Colley with a 101 finish in the 1st leg (60, 3, 40).
But the star of the match was the Young Captain from the beacon, winning 2-1 against R.Rice. James Mansell (Beacon) was in brilliant form with the 1st leg over in 8 darts (94, 137, 70 out (54 dbl 16)) R.Rice pulled a leg back to 1-1 but that couldn’t stop James Mansell completing a 2-1 to Lift the challenge cup for the Beacon.
